The Story Behind Our Coffee
At 513 Coffee, every latte starts with a story—one rooted in passion, purpose, and craftsmanship. That’s why we’re proud to source our beans from Deeper Roots Coffee, a Cincinnati-based roaster that’s all about relational sourcing, quality, and environmental stewardship.
What Makes Deeper Roots Special
Relational (Direct) Trade
Deeper Roots practices what they call DRDT, which stands for Deeper Roots Direct Trade. This means they form long-term, face-to-face relationships with coffee producers—visiting them at least every two years—and commit to paying fairly for high-quality beans.
Ethical & Sustainable
They’re deeply invested in environmental responsibility and transparency. By sourcing from trusted small-scale farmers and co-ops, they help foster a more equitable coffee industry—from the grower’s land to your morning cup.
Community & Connection
Their guiding philosophy? “Good coffee is good for the people.” They believe coffee should bring us together, and their roots in Cincinnati date back to a group of friends who turned their love for coffee into a mission: creating a third place where community thrives.
